The Good Beer Co has released, the 'Great Barrier Beer' - a delicious Australian Larger that is part of a campaign to protect UNESCO World Heritage Site, The Great Barrier Reef.

After two extreme cases of coral bleaching due to pollution and climate change, the Great Barrier Reef is in the fight of its life and social enterprises like The Good Beer Co. are extremely important to the reef's survival.

The company is passionate about brewing beer that is not only delicious but also supports meaningful causes like protecting the reef.

After a successful campaign in 2015, the Great Barrier Beer 2.0 will support the Australian marine Conservation Society and the 'Fight for Our Reef' campaign, with 10 per cent of proceeds being donated to the foundation.

James Grugeon, the man responsible for Great Barrier Beer 2.0 describes the beer as a crisp Australian Lager with hints of citrus and passionfruit.

"Great Barrier Beer 2.0 is an easy drinking Australian larger that is fresh and light, made from galaxy hops and Queensland malt that is intended to be enjoyed in the sun," Mr Grugeon said.

"It is an amazing Australian beer, made from all Australian ingredients, made for an Aussie icon," he said.

Queensland's Minister for Tourism and Innovation, Kate Jones MP applauded the company for its contribution to the state.
"I think this is the kind of social innovation that will transform the Queensland economy," she said.

"In regards to tourism, we know that the number one reason tourists come to Queensland is to see the Great Barrier Reef and it is worth six billion dollars to the industry, so it makes sense to back this beer."

The Great Barrier beer also features water colour artwork painted by Brother & Co. by using water from the Great Barrier Reef.

Great Barrier Beer is currently available on all P&O Cruise ships and is likely to be distributed throughout BWS stores in the new year.
CEO of Australian Marine Conservation Society, Darren Kindleysides is passionate about the campaign and is urging the public to support the environmental cause.

"The beer is simply a brilliant idea, it marries two great Aussie icons; the reef and drinking beer and it can make a real difference for the reef by raising funds but more importantly it is raising awareness" Mr Kindleysides said.

"This beer stands here for the future of the reef and every time you are raising a glass of this beer you are raising a glass to the future of the reef.
