Low Isles is an uninhabited coral cay within a lagoon of coral gardens about 15 kilometres off the Tropical Queensland Coast north east of Port Douglas. Access to this tiny island in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park is strictly limited to ensure preservation of its marine treasures. The coral abounds with fish of incredible colour and other marine creatures including turtles.
Michaelmas Cay is a protected sanctuary that plays host to 27,000 migratory seabirds. This unique sand cay is ideal for nature lovers, with 14 different species nesting on the cay. Lying 22 nautical miles from Cairns, the surrounding outer reef is a breathtaking garden of exotic marine life, magnificent coral and giant clams.
