The climate of Cairns is warm and tropical with maximum temperatures varying from around 31 degrees Celsius in summer to around 25 degrees Celcius in winter. While the temperatures are relatively mild all year round the humidity can reach up to 78% in summer making it uncomfortable for those not used to it. The monsoon months of January to March are also very wet and tropical cyclones are not uncommon in this period. For these reasons the winter and spring months are the most popular for visitors.
